MEPF Members Elect New Board of Trustees in Landmark General Meeting
A statement by the Municipal Employees Pension Fund
13 January 2026
Members of the MEPF Successfully Elect a New Board of Trustees
Member representatives of the Municipal Employees Pension Fund (MEPF) successfully held a General Meeting at the Radisson Hotel, Kempton Park on 11 December 2025 where they successfully elected a new Board of Trustees for a three-year term.
The General Meeting and elections were held in line with the rules of the Fund and in accordance with an enforceable undertaking concluded between the Fund and the Financial Services Conduct Authority (FSCA) in September last year following an exemption granted by the FSCA regarding the timing and procedural requirements set out in the Fund’s Rules.
Importantly, the General Meeting was held against the backdrop of a High Court judgement which prevented the FSCA from intervening in or supervising the gathering and the elections of the new Trustees.
The Trustees elected for a new term at the MEPF General Meeting held on 11 December 2025 are:
- Peter Modike
- Selaelo Kgomommu
- Jeanette Molefe
- Motshidisi Mothobi
- Kwenzekile Cata
- Edgar Mageza
- Lebogang Marekwa
- Onele Lamuni
- Sello Mokganya
Three new Trustees were elected to the Board, while two Trustees from the previous Board were not re-elected. Members of the MEPF returned the majority of the previous Board of Trustees to office.
The election of the Board of Trustees for a new term marks a significant milestone for the MEPF and underscores the independence of retirement funds in managing their affairs in line with their governing rules.
With the Election of the Board of Trustees now completed, the MEPF, its Principal Officer and the Fund’s Administrator will now be seized with operational matters of the Fund, ensuring that members receive the highest standard of service they deserve and expect.
